An aptly titled, grossly overdone big-screen adaptation of a DC Comics publication, it is, as though we needed it, another symptom of where we're going cinematically, and a movie that takes bilious joy in its own soullessness.

The movie, based on a comic book, features a couple of actors who deserve better (Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Idris Elba) and some who deserve even worse (like Chris Evans).

The Losers at least has speed on its side -- not to mention a bad case of ADD and camera jitters -- but all compliments end there.

The manufacturer's date might be relatively recent, but almost all the ideas and moves are definitely older than the likable cast members.

How dumb is it? You might actually kill a few million brain cells just watching it. Some groups may even want to consider inviting a designated driver to sit in the lobby and eat popcorn till it's over.

Compensates for the mindlessness of its story by filling it with all kinds of clever, playful, stylish flourishes.

As an action fix to hold you before the summer explosions start, you could do worse than The Losers. It's no more than an efficient time-killer.

The comic-book adaptation "The Losers" drags you down to its level at gunpoint with its drooling fetishization of weaponry, its focus on Zoe Saldana in wee shorts, various and sundry assassinations designed with gamers in mind, and more rabid mistrust of the U.S. government than you'd find at a tea party fundraiser. For all its insidious slickness, the film is easier to take than, say, "Kick-Ass" or "V for Vendetta," both of which came to the screen saddled with misguided pretentions. No pretentions here.

Unfortunately, as explosive as 'The Losers' is, it will still be but a distant memory in a few weeks time. And that effect is no fault of the cast or crew. In fact, there is a lot of terrific talent that came together to make this motion picture a reality. Rather, 'The Losers' has a premature expiration date merely because it is not uber-popular to begin with. On the other hand, screenwriters James Vanderbilt and Peter Berg and director Sylvain Whi...

The new film 'The Losers' is typical action-film fodder designed to keep audiences coming to the theaters this time of year... numbingly entertained while awaiting the real summer blockbuster action juggernauts like 'Iron Man 2'. Films like 'The Losers' in the spring / summer movie schedule are like tasty, yet easily forgotten appetizers... before the main course of cinematic blockbusters yet to come. &nb...

There aren’t a lot of actors that I bring negative baggage to when I see them on the screen. My job is to be as objective as I can, within my own subjectivity. In general, I would try to avoid films where these actors have lead roles, it wouldn’t be fair otherwise. And early on in his career Chris Evans was not a distraction for me. I thought he was perfectly adequate in the underrated parody Not Another Teen Movie, ignorable in Cellular, and no worse than anyone else in th...

Releasing The Losers right before the summer movie season begins, suggests the studio wanted to capture the hungry comic book crowd. That niche market is currently monitoring their countdown clocks for Iron Man 2, hitting theaters in just a couple weeks. So Losers serves as an warm-up more-o-less to get the juices flowing and the heart pumping. Well, expect to be a little dehydrated and possibly need a defibrillator after viewing this 98 ...

It's strange what a bad action movie takes seriously and doesn't take seriously. Take, for example, The Losers, in which cliches are sacred and human life of no value.

10 out of 10 Is there such thing as the perfect movie? Probably not. But, if a scale goes from 0 to 10, then all those numbers should be achievable. 'The Losers' is pretty close to perfect. Take a beautiful blend of action and comedy, throw in spicy characters and a heaping helping of great cinematography and you have yourself a recipe for a truly tasty treat. Metaphors and alliteration? Yup, the movie was that good! The Losers rates a 10 out of 10. As usual, this review wi...

This ‘Loser’ is definitely a winner! If you’re into the ‘A-Team’ TV series of the 1980’s, the big screen version is on the way in June 2010! And if this genre of movies is among your favorites, as is mine, ‘The Losers" will ‘wet your dry appetite’.
‘Back in the day when I was growing up, my parents had no problem with me reading the lighter superhero comic books. It was the darke...

Clay (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) was the colonel of a group of elite soldiers consisting of Jensen (Chris Evans), Roque (Idris Elba), Pooch (Columbus Short), and Cougar (Oscar Jaenada). The team was just screwed over on their latest mission where a man named Max (Jason Patric) is under the impression that he's had them killed. As the ex-soldiers hide out in Bolivia, pressure is put on Clay to come up with a plan to get them back into the states under the radar. Luckily for them, one falls in...
