The fifth collaborative team up between director Tony Scott and actor Denzel Washington, Unstoppable pretty much lives up to its name in terms of narrative velocity - a sequence of small mistakes add up to one big mistake in the form of a runaway train barreling through rural Pennsylvania, and like the train, Tony Scott slowly builds up speed and ratchets up the tension and danger with each passing minute of the movie....

Remember Speed from 1994? It was that action film that everyone seemed to love during the nineties and for good reason; it had high octane action, a great cast, and it managed to just keep going even when you thought it was going to end like ten minutes prior. Now get rid of the bus and replace it with an out of control train carrying explosive chemicals....

Thankfully, Unstoppable was decent enough to avoid using pun lines such as, "What a train wreck of a movie" or "Do yourself a favor and miss this train." The 96 minute feature isn’t going to be a highlight on Denzel Washington’s and Tony Scott’s career resume. Yet it won’t be a disaster either. In keeping this flick stripped down in most areas, the script slowly builds enough suspense to keep one involved....
